So I lost my domain...

I've been fortunate enough over the past few years to be busy enough professionally that I don't have to spend too much time marketing my services via my website, and therefore, unfortunately, don't update or even check on it very often. Recently, a friend of mine asked if I had a business card to pass onto a friend in need of a graphic designer, and I said, "no, but have them check out my website."

Well, since I hadn't done so myself in such a long time that I almost forgot what it looked like, I decided to check out peteandrewsdesign.com yesterday afternoon and discovered it was now going to a Danish clothing website for WoodWood, which doesn't appear to be genuine since it looks nothing like woodwood.com. Years ago, when I first registered peteandrewsdesign.com, I started receiving a ridiculous amount of spam from GoDaddy. So I set up an email rule sending everything from GoDaddy into its own folder and marking it as read. I had the domain set to auto-renew, so I didn't think I had anything to worry about by doing that. However, a few months ago, somebody cloned my card at a local Mexican restaurant and I got a fraud alert when they tried using it to buy gas multiple times a state away. So I got a new card, and thought I remembered all of my recurring charges happening everywhere on the internet. But, obviously, I did not, and I lost my domain. Luckily, last night, I found that peteandrews.design was available, so I registered it through Squarespace and am now done with GoDaddy, and all of their annoying spam, forever.

Hopefully, this will prompt me to pay more attention to my website from now on.
